About me

I have worked as a 3d spatial designer of products, exhibitions and visitor experiences in Aotearoa New Zealand for over 30 years. My clients are primarily in the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) sector, but have also included retail, private and cultural centers such as Venture Southland;  New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute; Kā-Uri for Haumi Ltd. For Te Puia I redesigned the exhibition furniture to tour China and Japan.

The projects shown on this site are a selection illustrating diversity of subject matter, scale and output. Projects in development are not included.

Specialising in short term architecture I have overseen art direction across the many facets of exhibition development and visitor experience design. My work has included consultancy on development process and interpretive strategies and solutions.

My holistic approach to spatial design is informed by past work in the commercial sector as Visual Merchandising Manager for the department store, Kirkcaldie & Stains Ltd, and as Lead Designer, Exhibitions at The Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa.

Working directly with clients, graphic designers and project managers to realize conceptual aspirations, I am a sole provider of 3d spatial design services, managing design methodologies to provide visual creative direction to all aspects of presentation. My extensive knowledge and experience of working with artefacts, artworks and developing kinesthetic interactives ensures international best practice and principles around inclusive design are followed and extended.

Project awards include retail window display promotions, Elizabeth Arden, Australasia; Swatch watch NZ release;  Museums Aotearoa awards for Exhibition Excellence, winner Social History –  Puke Ariki, WAR: Our Legacy Our Challenge;  Winner Auckland War Memorial Museum, Taku Tāmaki: Auckland Stories and finalist, Auckland War Memorial Museum Volume: Making music in Aotearoa.

My design aesthetic is varied depending on the requirements of the client, audience and project, and I always focus on maintaining and extending high standards to ensure quality outputs.

Exhibitions and their requirements vary in scale, subject matter, design and presentation solutions. If you feel I can assist in the delivery of your project, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
